Join us for drinks and snacks to kick off the big weekend!
Parking: Complimentary self-parking in the garage or valet for a small fee
San Diego International Airport (SAN) is easily accessbile from most major U.S. cities and roughly 30 miles away from the wedding venue in Northern San Diego County.
Transportation in Southern California generally necessitates a car, but renting a car is not mandatory for those traveling from out of town. Shuttles and a local commuter train (The Coaster) provide low cost transportation from the airport area to Northern San Diego, where many local attractions (e.g. beaches, bars, restaurants) are within walking distance or a short Uber ride depending on where you decide to stay. Getting to the wedding venue will require a private vehicle. We will provide complementary parking/valet, but for guests that plan to fully indulge in the wedding celebration, we recommend using a ridesharing service or assigning a designated driver.
A full-service, family-friendly resort in close proximity to the wedding venue, the Omni La Costa is a beautiful property. There are plenty of activities accessible on site including fine dining, multiple pools, tennis, golf, and an award-winning spa. The Omni is only a short drive from the beach and other local tourist attractions.
Mexican culture and cuisine have influenced San Diego dining since the city's beginnings. Don't miss out on the opportunity to enjoy delicious Mexican food and refreshing margaritas. Visitors from the Midwest and East Coast will not be disappointed.
Our Picks Casa Guadalajara (our go-to in historic Old Town) Casa de Bandini (classic Mexican cuisine, relocated from Old Town to Carlsbad in 2009) Rico's Taco Shop (best taco shop in Encinitas, try the California Burrito with copious hot sauce) Roberto's Taco Shop (local chain, beware the many imitators, home of the Carne Asada Burrito)
Favorite Surf & Turf
The phrase "Where the Turf Meets the Surf" was coined by Bing Crosby in 1938 to popularize nearby Del Mar. Fresh seafood is plentiful in San Diego and always pairs well with a good piece of steak.
Here we have listed an assortment of favorite local spots that don't fit into the above categories.
Pipes Cafe (enormous breakfast burritos, near the beach in Cardiff) In-N-Out (West Coast hamburger chain, bucket list worthy) Kaito Sushi (casual sushi spot in Encinitas, don't miss out on the saltwater eel) Campfire (farm-to-table, creative cocktails) Vigilucci's (authentic Italian experience, live piano nightly)
San Diego Beaches
San Diego offers immediate access to world class beaches for playing, surfing, sunbathing, and swimming. Walking the coastline from Encinitas to Solana Beach is a personal favorite of ours. For the more adventurous, there is gorgeous hiking at Torrey Pines State Beach, scuba diving and snorkeling at La Jolla Cove, and deep sea fishing out of San Diego Bay. More detailed information about individual beaches is available here.
San Diego has grown into a craft beer mecca over the last 10-15 years with an explosion of craft/micro/nano breweries turning out innovative beers, including the West Coast IPA (a local twist on the IPA), that have been pushing the envelope and sweeping award ceremonies at national and international contests. Sampling these award-winning brews is best experienced at the source—nothing tastes better than a beer poured fresh from a tap that's only feet away from the tank in which it was made.
Below is a list of our favorite breweries. You can plan your own brew tour (see recommended routes here) or hire a company to take you on an all-inclusive beer adventure. For people interested in the later option, we recommend Scavengers or Brewery Tours of San Diego.
More information about the San Diego beer scene is available here.
While perpetually overshadowed by Northern California vineyards, wine-producing regions spanning from Temecula (short drive north of San Diego) to Mexico's Guadalupe Valley have recently drawn more national attention. San Diego wineries and tasting rooms offer a nearby escape to enjoy a glass while taking in the sights of the rugged desert terrain of East County. Visit the links below for more information.
Created in 1769, Old Town San Diego was California’s first Spanish settlement with only a mission and a fort. This area has since been transformed into a cultural hub with historical sites, museums, live entertainment, boutique shopping, and authentic Mexican restaurants. A visit here can be combined with other downtown San Diego attractions such as nearby Mission Bay, the San Diego Zoo, Coronado Island, Seaport Village, or the USS Midway Museum.
San Diego Zoo & San Diego Zoo Safari Park
The San Diego Zoo is world renowned for its diverse collection of animals including many that are on the endangered species list. The animals live in spacious and beautifully designed enclosures that replicate their natural habitats. The koala and giant panda exhibits are always popular, as are the orangutans and siamangs that climb around in lush forest settings.
The San Diego Zoo Safari Park is a sister park located 35 miles northeast of The San Diego Zoo. This unique attraction immerses you in an active, hands-on safari experience where herds of animals roam natural habitats in a vast reserve.
Located in nearby Carlsbad (just north of Encinitas), LEGOLAND is a whole park dedicated to LEGOs with more than 60 rides, shows and attractions. It offers an interactive, hands-on theme park experience for families with young children. The resort is also home to SEA LIFE Aquarium and the world's first LEGOLAND Water Park.

We are excited to have you partake in our celebration of matrimony! As you may know, we have two well-stocked apartments with limited space, so there are not many material gifts we need to help kickstart our married lives. Nonetheless, if you would like to buy something, we have put together a concise registry of items that will be put to good use.
